Pictured from left to right are head women’s soccer coach Barth Beasley, Kathy Viviano (mother), Ashley Viviano, Thomas Viviano (father) and assistant women’s soccer coach Charles Pratt.

Ashley Viviano of Sterling Heights has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Kellogg Community College and will begin playing for the team during the fall 2013 season.

Barth Beasley, head coach of the women’s soccer team at KCC, said Viviano brings years of experience to the Bruins’ soccer program, including playing for the Michigan Burn at the Michigan Youth Soccer League’s Premier level.

In 2012, Viviano helped her team win championships at the Genesee/Waza Cup U-18 tournament and at the Michigan Football Club Showcase, where they went undefeated. She also received 2012 Defensive Player of the Year honors at Paul K. Cousino High School in Warren.

Beasley said he could tell when meeting with Viviano and her parents and discussing Viviano’s goals that she would be a perfect fit for the program at KCC.

“Ashley is very excited about coming to make a difference in her life academically and in being an impact player for the women’s soccer program at KCC this fall,” Beasley said. “Her excitement and poise during her phone interview carried over to her on-campus visit, and we are excited about her being a student-athlete in the Bruin family.”
